Here’s a sentence I never thought I’ll write. Undercut, as it seems, has run its course. And maybe, just maybe it’s good news! Think about it, every second dude you meet is sporting an undercut, or a variation of the undercut that's making them look like clones of each other. Flaunt it alongside a handlebar, and that makes it 10 people that I know of whom I can literally count on my fingers—all of them being immediate friends! Undercut has actually bestridden the pop culture universe, filtering into the lives of the simplest of men. Just the other day, I met a friend of friend who’s actually a pretty simple grey-shirt-black-pants kind of guy but was sporting a long mop of hair on top with disconnected sides. When I quizzed him about the hairstyle, he simply shrugged and said, ‘Nine out of 10 people in my office have this kind of haircut. I was beginning to feel left out.”
So, if you too are tired of seeing this haircut and want a change in your appearance, here are 7 hairstyles that are different and have the potential to make you look equally stylish.
1) Long Buzzcut
This style quite obviously caters to men with a penchant for low maintenance. Keep it natural or use a little amount of gel to style it, just to bring that glossy sheen to your hair. It’s apt for men with oval faces, strong jawlines and small foreheads. Just ask your stylist to give you a buzz with size #4 clipper. This medium-sized blade is perfect for guys who don’t want to clip their hair too short.
2) The Modern Cowlick
Men with curly or coarse hair have 99 problems in their lives, and all of them are to do with their hair. Fortunately for you, finding a good hairstyle that will suit your face and make you look dandy has become easy—all thanks to cowlick. This is a short haircut that is longer at the front. You can cut the sides short, but don’t give it a fade or an undercut. You can style the front like a fringe with the help of a medium-hold paste.
3) The Ivy League
While you are not exactly going to Harvard, you can easily get the Harvard style. It’s actually a pretty classy variation of the crew cut with the slickness of a side part. It’s great for men with defined features, a stubborn cowlick and who like neat and tidy appearance. Traditionally, it’s always side parted but you can also brush it back by using a light product, say a hair mousse.
4) The Sexy Slicked Back Side Part
This is pretty much like ivy league except the front is either slicked back or brushed back to give the voluminous appearance at the front. A good quality hair product is the key to achieving this look. Apply some pomade to your hair and then work it evenly. Then comb the hair in a part and then simply brush the front in downward direction to get the volume.
5) The Dreamy Long Layers
6) The Great Pompadour
7) The Caesar Cut
This hairstyle is ideal for boys who have long/oblong faces or big foreheads. They are also great for those who are experiencing premature balding as it brings the hair forward and detracts attention from bald patches.
